'Every child is an artist. The problem is to remain an artist once they grow up.'

Pablo Picasso

At Atwood, we value art and design as an important area of our curriculum, particularly in developing a child’s aesthetic awareness and their development as a ‘whole child’.

Introducing children to a wide variety of skills within the structured artistic disciplines of drawing, painting, printing, textiles, 3D and sculpture, collage, use of computing and digital art, we aim to fulfil their creative potential whilst broadening their artistic knowledge.

Our children also take their lead from world famous artists, architects and designers who have had a significant impact on the world around them.

We aim to build links with the local artistic community and we hold an annual arts event once a year which sees the children working collaboratively on a project which enhances the school environment.
